Secondary Overview

The secondary school offers to students of all nationalities and backgrounds a broad and academically rigorous education which prepares them for success in a multi-cultural world.

The school provides excellent specialist facilities, including dedicated laboratories for Physics, Chemistry and Biology, Art and Music rooms, ICT rooms, and a new Library/Resource Centre. Most classrooms are equipped with Interactive Whiteboards, and ICT plays an integral role in teaching. Internet access is available in all the classrooms. Textbooks are imported from theUK. The school’s sporting facilities are supplemented by use of the nearby Olympic sports complex.

As described in greater detail in the following sections on this website, the Secondary School adheres to BSB’s mission of “Learning to Live”. Pupils are taught in a caring and supportive community, which treats each person as an individual and challenges all to excel. At the same time, our pupils are expected to show the model behavior of responsible young citizens progressing to higher education and then to the world of work.

Academic Program 

We are an international school offering Cambridge qualifications, namely IGCSEs and A-Levels. Students in Key Stage 3 broadly follow the Cambridge curriculum, with some adaptations for our global context. In addition, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan licensed us, which enables our students to graduate with a national certificate, the Azeri secondary school leaving certificate. 

Years 7 to 13 (11 to 18-year-olds)

Students who attend our secondary school have the opportunity to gain both qualifications with the Azeri national certificate and the UK IGCSE and AS/A Level qualifications. With this in mind, we assess our students’ needs to cater to these very different models.
We have successfully helped many students secure places in top universities already, and we are continuously improving the education of these opportunities to students and parents.
